## Preface

This Ziyarat Warith (Imam as the inheritor from all previous prophets) is recited on Thursday nights and even every day. It is also a means to seek needs when recited with specific intentions

1. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ آدَمَ صَفْوَةِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha adama safwati allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Adam the choice of Allah.

2. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ نُوحٍ نَبِيِّ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha nuhin nabiyyi allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Noah the prophet of Allah.

3. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha ibrahima khalili allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Abraham the intimate friend of Allah.

4. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوسَىٰ كَلِيمِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha musa kalimi allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Moses the spoken by Allah.

5. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عِيسَىٰ رُوحِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha \`isa ruhi allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Jesus the spirit of Allah.

6. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدٍ حَبِيبِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha muhammadin habibi allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Muhammad the most beloved by Allah.

7. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waritha amiri almu'minina*\
   Peace be upon you, O inheritor of the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him.

8. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna muhammadin almustafa*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of Muhammad the well-chosen Prophet.

9. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ٱلْمُرْتَضَىٰ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna \`aliyyin almurtada*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of Ali the well-pleased.

10. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ ٱلزَّهْرَاءِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna fatimata alzzahra'i*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of Fatima the luminous lady.

11. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ خَدِيـجَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna khadijata alkubra*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of Khadija the grand lady.

12. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ ثَارِهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya thara allahi wabna tharihi*\
   Peace be upon you, O vengeance of Allah, son of His vengeance,

13. وَٱلْوِتْرَ ٱلْمَوْتُورَ\
   *walwitra almawtura*\
   and the unavenged so far.

14. أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ أَقَمْتَ ٱلصَّلاَةَ\
   *ashhadu annaka qad aqamta alssalata*\
   I bear witness that you performed the prayers,

15. وَآتَيْتَ ٱلزَّكَاةَ\
   *wa atayta alzzakata*\
   defrayed the poor-rate,

16. وَأَمَرْتَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ\
   *wa amarta bilma\`rufi*\
   enjoined the right,

17. وَنَهَيْتَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنْكَرِ\
   *wa nahayta \`an almunkari*\
   forbade the wrong,

18. وَأَطَعْتَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ حَتَّىٰ أَتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ\
   *wa ata\`ta allaha wa rasulahu hatta ataka alyaqinu*\
   and obeyed Allah and His Messenger until death came upon you.

19. فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ\
   *fala\`ana allahu ummatan qatalatka*\
   So, may Allah curse the people who slew you.

20. وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً ظَلَمَتْكَ\
   *wa la\`ana allahu ummatan zalamatka*\
   May Allah curse the people who persecuted you.

21. وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً سَمِعَتْ بِذٰلِكَ فَرَضِيَتْ بِهِ\
   *wa la\`ana allahu ummatan sami\`at bidhalika faradiyat bihi*\
   May Allah curse the people who were pleased when they had heard of that.

22. يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *ya mawlaya ya aba \`abdillahi*\
   O my Master, O Abu-\`Abdullah!

23. أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ نُوراً فِي ٱلأَصْلاَبِ ٱلشَّامِخَةِ\
   *ashhadu annaka kunta nuran fi al-aslabi alshshamikhati*\
   I bear witness that you were light in the sublime loins

24. وَٱلأَرْحَامِ ٱلْمُطَهَّرَةِ\
   *wal-arhami almutahharati*\
   and purified wombs;

25. لَمْ تُنَجِّسْكَ ٱلْجَاهِلِيَّةُ بِأَنْجَاسِهَا\
   *lam tunajjiska aljahiliyyatu bi'anjasiha*\
   the impurities of the Ignorance Era could not object you to filth

26. وَلَمْ تُلْبِسْكَ مِنْ مُدْلَهِمَّاتِ ثِيَابِهَا\
   *wa lam tulbiska min mudlahimmati thiyabiha*\
   nor could it dress you its murky clothes.

27. وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ مِنْ دَعَائِمِ ٱلدِّينِ\
   *wa ashhadu annaka min da\`a'imi alddini*\
   I also bear witness that you are one of the mainstays of the religion

28. وَأَرْكَانِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ\
   *wa arkani almu'minina*\
   and the supports of the faithful believers.

29. وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ ٱلإِمَامُ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلتَّقِيُّ\
   *wa ashhadu annaka al-imamu albarru alttaqiyyu*\
   I also bear witness that you are the God-fearing, pious,

30. ٱلرَّضِيُّ ٱلزَّكِيُّ\
   *alrradiyyu alzzakiyyu*\
   pleased, immaculate,

31. ٱلْهَادِي ٱلْمَهْدِيُّ\
   *alhadi almahdiyyu*\
   guide, and well-guided Imam.

32. وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ ٱلأَئِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلْدِكَ كَلِمَةُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ\
   *wa ashhadu anna al-a'immata min wuldika kalimatu alttaqwa*\
   And (I bear witness) that the Imams from your progeny are the spokesmen of piety,

33. وَأَعْلاَمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ\
   *wa a\`lamu alhuda*\
   the signs of guidance,

34. وَٱلْعُروَةُ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ\
   *wal\`urwatu alwuthqa*\
   the firmest handle (of Islam),

35. وَٱلْحُجَّةُ عَلَىٰ أَهْلِ ٱلدُّنْيَا\
   *walhujjatu \`ala ahli alddunya*\
   and the decisive Argument against the inhabitants of the world.

36. وَأُشْهِدُ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَهُ\
   *wa ushhidu allaha wa mala'ikatahu*\
   And I call Allah, His angels,

37. وَأَنْبِيَاءَهُ وَرُسُلَهُ\
   *wa anbiya'ahu wa rusulahu*\
   His Prophets, and His Messenger

38. أَنِّي بِكُمْ مُؤْمِنٌ وَبِإِيَابِكُمْ\
   *anni bikum mu'minun wa bi'yabikum*\
   to witness for me that I believe in you all and in your Return,

39. مُوقِنٌ بِشَرَائِعِ دِينِي وَخَوَاتِيمِ عَمَلي\
   *muqinun bishara'i\`i dini wa khawatimi \`amali*\
   I have full confidence in the laws of my religion and in the seals of my deeds,

40. وَقَلْبِي لِقَلْبِكُمْ سِلْمٌ\
   *wa qalbi liqalbikum silmun*\
   my heart is at peace with you all,

41. وَأَمْرِي لأَمْرِكُمْ مُتَّبِعٌ\
   *wa amri li'amrikum muttbi\`un*\
   and all my affairs are based on your commands.

42. صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَلَىٰ أَرْوَاحِكُمْ\
   *salawatu allahi \`alaykum wa \`ala arwahikum*\
   May Allah’s benedictions be on your souls,

43. وَعَلَىٰ أَجْسَادِكُمْ وَعَلَىٰ أَجْسَامِكُمْ\
   *wa \`ala ajsadikum wa \`ala ajsamikum*\
   your bodies, your forms,

44. وَعَلَىٰ شَاهِدِكُمْ وَعَلَىٰ غَائِبِكُمْ\
   *wa \`ala shahidikum wa \`ala gha'ibkum*\
   the present and the absent from you,

45. وَعَلَىٰ ظَاهِرِكُمْ وَعَلَىٰ بَاطِنِكُمْ\
   *wa \`ala zahirikum wa \`ala batinikum*\
   and the apparent and the invisible from you.

46. بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *bi'abi anta wa ummi yabna rasuli allahi*\
   My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O son of the Messenger of Allah!

47. بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *bi'abi anta wa ummi ya aba \`abdillahi*\
   My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Abu \`Abdullah!

48. لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ ٱلرَّزِيَّةُ\
   *laqad \`azumat alrraziyyatu*\
   Extremely terrible was the calamity

49. وَجَلَّتِ ٱلْمُصيبَةُ بِكَ عَلَيْنَا\
   *wa jallat almusibatu bika \`alayna*\
   and astounding is the misfortune that you suffered upon us

50. وَعَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ\
   *wa \`ala jami\`i ahli alssamawati wal-ardi*\
   and upon all the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth.

51. فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسْرَجَتْ وَأَلْجَمَتْ\
   *fala\`ana allahu ummatan asrajat wa aljamat*\
   Therefore, Allah may curse the people who saddled up, gave rein to their horses,

52. وَتَهَيَّأَتْ لِقِتَالِكَ\
   *wa tahayya'at liqitalika*\
   and prepared themselves to kill you.

53. يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *ya mawlaya ya aba \`abdillahi*\
   O my Master, O Abu \`Abdullah!

54. قَصَدْتُ حَرَمَكَ\
   *qasadtu haramaka*\
   I moved towards your sanctuary

55. وَأَتَيْتُ إِلَىٰ مَشْهَدِكَ\
   *wa ataytu ila mashhadika*\
   and came to your shrine

56. أَسْأَلُ ٱللَّهَ بِٱلشَّأْنِ ٱلَّذِي لَكَ عِنْدَهُ\
   *as'alu allaha bilshsha'ni alladhi laka \`indahu*\
   beseeching Allah in the name of the standing that you enjoy with Him

57. وَبِٱلْمَحَلِّ ٱلَّذِي لَكَ لَدَيْهِ\
   *wa bilmahalli alladhi laka ladayhi*\
   and the position that you occupy with Him

58. أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ\
   *an yusalliya \`ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin*\
   to send blessings on Muhammad and on the Household of Muhammad

59. وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مَعَكُمْ فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ\
   *wa an yaj\`alani ma\`akum fi alddunya wal-akhirati*\
   and to keep me with you in this world and in the Hereafter.

60. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna rasuli allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of Allah.

61. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ نَبِيِّ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna nabiyyi allahi*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of the Prophet of Allah.

62. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna amiri almu'minina*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of the commander of the faithful.

63. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna alhusayni alshshahidi*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of al-Husayn the martyr.

64. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلشَّهِيدُ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ayyuha alshshahidu*\
   Peace be upon you, O martyr.

65. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمَظْلُومُ وَٱبْنُ ٱلْمَظْلُومِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ayyuha almazlumu wabnu almazlumi*\
   Peace be upon you, O wronged and harassed and the son of the wrong and harassed.

66. لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ\
   *la\`ana allahu ummatan qatalatka*\
   Curse of Allah be on those who killed you.

67. وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً ظَلَمَتْكَ\
   *wa la\`ana allahu ummatan zalamatka*\
   Curse of Allah be on those who persecuted you.

68. وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً سَمِعَتْ بِذٰلِكَ فَرَضَيِتْ بِهِ\
   *wa la\`ana allahu ummatan sami\`at bidhalika faradiyat bihi*\
   Curse of Allah be on those who heard this even but rested satisfied.

69. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ وَلِيِّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ya waliyya allahi wabna waliyyihi*\
   Peace be upon you, O intimate servant of Allah and the son of His intimate servant.

70. لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ ٱلْمُصيبَةُ\
   *laqad \`azumat almusibatu*\
   Extremely terrible was the calamity

71. وَجَلَّتِ ٱلرَّزِيَّةُ بِكَ عَلَيْنَا\
   *wa jallat alrraziyyatu bika \`alayna*\
   and astounding is the misfortune that you suffered, upon us

72. وَعَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ ٱلْمُسْلِمينَ\
   *wa \`ala jami\`i almuslimina*\
   and upon all Muslims.

73. فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ\
   *fala\`ana allahu ummatan qatalatka*\
   So, curse of Allah be on those who killed you

74. وَأَبْرَأُ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ وَإِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ\
   *wa abra'u ila allahi wa ilayka minhum*\
   and I disavow them in the presence of Allah and You.

75. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَوْلِيَاءَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّائَهُ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya awliya'a allahi wa ahibba'ahu*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O friends and dears of Allah.

76. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَصْفِيَاءَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَوِدَّاءَهُ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya asfiya'a allahi wa awidda'ahu*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O choice of Allah and sincerely attached to Him.

77. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya ansara dini allahi*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Allah’s religion.

78. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya ansara rasuli allahi*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of the Messenger of Allah.

79. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya ansara amiri almu'minina*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of the Commander of the Faithful.

80. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya ansara fatimata sayyidati nisa'i al\`alamina*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Fatima the doyenne of the women of this world.

81. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya ansara abi muhammadin*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Abu Muhammad,

82. ٱلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ٱلْوَلِيِّ ٱلنَّاصِحِ\
   *alhasani ibni \`aliyyin alwaliyyi alnnasihi*\
   al-Hasan the son of Ali, the saintly and sincere.

83. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ أَبِي عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *alssalamu \`alaykum ya ansara abi \`abdillahi*\
   Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Abu-\`Abdullah.

84. بِأَبِي أَنْتُمْ وَأُمِّي\
   *bi'abi antum wa ummi*\
   My father and mother be sacrificed for you.

85. طِبْتُمْ وَطَابَتِ ٱلأَرْضُ ٱلَّتِي فِيهَا دُفِنْتُمْ\
   *tibtum wa tabat al-ardu allati fiha dufintum*\
   Indeed, pure be you and pure be the soil in which you were buried.

86. وَفُزْتُمْ فَوْزاً عَظيماً\
   *wa fuztum fawzan \`aziman*\
   You attained great success.

87. فَيَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ مَعَكُمْ فَأَفُوزَ مَعَكُمْ\
   *fayalaytani kuntu ma\`akum fa'afuza ma\`akum*\
   Would that I were with you so that I could also share the accomplishment with you.

88. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ امِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka yabna amiri almu'minina*\
   Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.

89. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْعَبْدُ ٱلصَّالِحُ\
   *alssalamu \`alayka ayyuha al\`abdu alssalihu*\
   Peace be upon you, O righteous servant (of Allah)

90. ٱلْمُطِيعُ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ\
   *almuti\`u lillahi wa lirasulihi*\
   and obedient to Allah and to His Messenger.

91. اشْهَدُ انَّكَ قَدْ جَاهَدْتَ وَنَصَحْتَ\
   *ashhadu annaka qad jahadta wa nasahta*\
   I bear witness that you strove (in the way of Allah), acted sincerely,

92. وَصَبَرْتَ حَتَّىٰ اتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ\
   *wa sabarta hatta ataka alyaqinu*\
   and tolerated (harm) until death came upon you.

93. لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ لَكُمْ مِنَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ\
   *la\`ana allahu alzzalimina lakum min al-awwalina wal-akhirina*\
   May Allah curse those who wronged you from the past and the present generations

94. وَالْحَقَهُمْ بِدَرْكِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ\
   *wa alhaqahum bidarki aljahimi*\
   and may He send them to the lowest layer of the blazing Hell.
