## Preface

The ziyarat of the Holy Prophet (s) for Saturday, as arranged in Mafatih al-Jinan. Each day of the week is associated with one or more of the Fourteen Infallibles, and Saturday is the day of the Holy Prophet. The day's dua is on its own page: Dua for Saturday.

## Text

Each line gives the Arabic, then the transliteration in italics, then the English.

1. أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ ٱللَّهُ\
   *ash-hadu an la ilaha illa allahu*\
   I bear witness that there is no god save Allah;

2. وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ\
   *wahdahu la sharika lahu*\
   alone without having any partner;

3. وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُهُ\
   *wa ash-hadu annaka rasuluhu*\
   and I bear witness that you are His messenger

4. وَأَنَّكَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِٱللَّهِ\
   *wa annaka muhammadu bnu \`abdillahi*\
   and you are Muhammad, the son of \`Abdullah.

5. وَأَشْهَدُ أَنّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالاتِ رَبِّكَ\
   *wa ash-hadu annaka qad ballaghta risalati rabbika*\
   And I bear witness that you have truly conveyed the missions of your Lord,

6. وَنَصَحْتَ لأُمَّتِكَ\
   *wa nasahta li'ummatika*\
   well-wished for your nation,

7. وَجَاهَدْتَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ\
   *wa jahadta fi sabili allahi*\
   striven hard in the way of Allah

8. بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلحَسَنَةِ\
   *bilhikmati walmaw\`izati alhasanati*\
   by means of wisdom and excellent preaching,

9. وَأَدَّيْتَ ٱلَّذِي عَلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلحَقِّ\
   *wa addayta alladhi \`alayka mina alhaqqi*\
   and fulfilled the duty that is incumbent upon you;

10. وَأَنَّكَ قَدْ رَؤُفْتَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ\
   *wa annaka qad ra'ufta bilmu'minina*\
   and you have been sympathetic with the believers

11. وَغَلَظْتَ عَلَىٰ ٱلكَافِرِينَ\
   *wa ghalazta \`ala alkafirina*\
   and unyielding to the unbelievers;

12. وَعَبَدْتَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصاً\
   *wa \`abadta allaha mukhlisan*\
   and you have worshipped Allah sincerely

13. حَتَّىٰ أَتَاكَ ٱليَقِينُ\
   *hatta ataka alyaqinu*\
   until death came upon you.

14. فَبَلَغَ ٱللَّهُ بِكَ أَشْرَفَ مَحَلِّ ٱلْمُكَرَّمِينَ\
   *fabalagha allahu bika ashrafa mahalli almukarramina*\
   Allah therefore has lifted you up to the most honorable place of the honored ones.

15. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي ٱسْتَنْقَذَنَا بِكَ\
   *alhamdu lillahi alladhi istanqadhana bika*\
   All praise be to Allah Who has saved us, through you,

16. مِنَ ٱلشِّرْكِ وَٱلضَّلالِ\
   *mina alshshirki walddalali*\
   from polytheism and deviation.

17. اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ\
   *allahumma salli \`ala muhammadin wa alihi*\
   O Allah, (please) send blessings to Muhammad and his Household,

18. وَٱجْعَلْ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَصَلَوَاتِ مَلاَئِكَتِكَ\
   *waj\`al salawatika wa salawati mala'ikatika*\
   and make Your blessings, the blessings of Your angels,

19. وَأَنْبِيَائِكَ وَٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ\
   *wa anbiya'ika walmursalina*\
   Your prophets, the Messengers,

20. وَعِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ\
   *wa \`ibadika alssalihina*\
   Your righteous servants,

21. وَأَهْلِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرَضِينَ\
   *wa ahli alssamawati wal-aradina*\
   the inhabitants of the heavens and the \[layers of the\] earth,

22. وَمَنْ سَبَّحَ لَكَ يَا رَبَّ ٱلعَالَمِينَ\
   *wa man sabbaha laka ya rabba al\`alamina*\
   and ever one who glorifies You, O Lord of the worlds,

23. مِنَ ٱلأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ\
   *mina al-awwalina wal-akhirina*\
   from the past and the late generations,

24. عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ\
   *\`ala muhammadin \`abdika wa rasulika*\
   be on Muhammad, Your servant, messenger,

25. وَنَبِيِّكَ وَأَمِينِكَ\
   *wa nabiyyika wa aminika*\
   prophet, trustee,

26. وَنَجِيبِكَ وَحَبِيبِكَ\
   *wa najibika wa habibika*\
   elite, most-beloved,

27. وَصَفِيِّكَ وَصِفْوَتِكَ\
   *wa safiyyika wa sifwatika*\
   elect, choice,

28. وَخَاصَّتِكَ وَخَالِصَتِكَ\
   *wa khassatika wa khalisatika*\
   dignitary, select,

29. وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ\
   *wa khiyaratika min khalqika*\
   and the best of Your creatures.

30. وَأَعْطِهِ ٱلفَضْلَ وَٱلفَضِيلَةَ\
   *wa a\`tihi alfadla walfadilata*\
   And grant him preference, virtue,

31. وَٱلوَسِيلَةَ وَٱلدَّرَجَةَ ٱلرَّفِيعَةَ\
   *walwasilata walddarajata alrrafi\`ata*\
   \[right of\] mediation, and sublime rank;

32. وَٱبْعَثْهُ مَقَاماً مَحْمُوداً\
   *wab\`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan*\
   and send him a praiseworthy status

33. يَغْبِطُهُ بِهِ ٱلأَوَّلُونَ وَٱلآخِرُونَ\
   *yaghbituhu bihi al-awwaluna wal-akhiruna*\
   which all the past and the late generations wish to have.

34. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ:\
   *allahumma innaka qulta*\
   O Allah, You have said:

35. ﴿وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذْ ظَلَمُوٱ أَنفُسَهُمْ\
   *wa law annahum idh zalamu anfusahum*\
   “And had they, when they were unjust to themselves,

36. جَاءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا ٱللَّهَ\
   *ja'uka fastaghfaru allaha*\
   come to you and asked forgiveness of Allah,

37. وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ\
   *wastaghfara lahumu alrrasulu*\
   and the Messenger had also asked forgiveness for them,

38. لَوَجَدُوٱ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّاباً رَحِيماً﴾\
   *lawajadu allaha tawwaban rahiman*\
   they would have found Allah Oft-returning to mercy, Merciful.”

39. إِلٰهِي فَقَدْ أَتَيْتُ نَبِيَّكَ مُسْتَغْفِراً\
   *ilahi faqad ataytu nabiyyaka mustaghfiran*\
   O my God, I have come to Your Prophet, seeking forgiveness of You

40. تَائِباً مِنْ ذُنُوبِي\
   *ta'iban min dhunubi*\
   and repenting before You from my sins;

41. فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ\
   *fasalli \`ala muhammadin wa alihi*\
   so, (please) send blessings to Muhammad and his Household

42. وَٱغْفِرْهَا لِي\
   *waghfirha li*\
   and forgive them for me.

43. يَا سَيِّدَنَا\
   *ya sayyidana*\
   O our master,

44. أَتَوَجَّهُ بِكَ وَبِأَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ\
   *atawajjahu bika wa bi-ahli baytika*\
   I turn by you and by your Household

45. إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ رَبِّكَ وَرَبِّي\
   *ila allahi ta\`ala rabbika wa rabbi*\
   towards Allah, the Exalted, your and my Lord,

46. لِيَغْفِرَ لِي\
   *liyaghfira li*\
   so that He may forgive me.

47. إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ\
   *inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji\`una*\
   Truly, we are Allah's and truly to Him shall we return.

48. أُصِبْنَا بِكَ يَا حَبِيبَ قُلُوبِنَا\
   *usibna bika ya habiba qulubina*\
   We are stricken by losing you, O beloved of our hearts!

49. فَمَا أَعْظَمَ ٱلْمُصيبَةَ بِكَ\
   *fama a\`zama almusibata bika*\
   Too shocking is our misfortune of losing you!

50. حيَْثُ ٱنْقَطَعَ عَنَّا ٱلْوَحْيُ\
   *haythu inqata\`a \`anna alwahyu*\
   Because the Revelation has been interrupted

51. وَحَيْثُ فَقَدْنَاكَ\
   *wa haythu faqadnaka*\
   and because we have missed you.

52. فَإنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ\
   *fa inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji\`una*\
   Nevertheless, we are Allah’s and to Him shall we return.

53. يَا سَيِّدَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ\
   *ya sayyidana ya rasula allahi*\
   O our master, O Allah’s Messenger!

54. صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ بَيْتِكَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ\
   *salawatu allahi \`alayka wa \`ala ali baytika alttahirina*\
   May Allah’s blessings be upon you and upon your Household, the immaculate.

55. هٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلسَّبْتِ وَهُوَ يَوْمُكَ\
   *hadha yawmu alssabti wa huwa yawmuka*\
   This day is Saturday, which is your day,

56. وَأَنَا فِيهِ ضَيْفُكَ وَجَارُكَ\
   *wa ana fihi dayfuka wa jaruka*\
   and on this day I am your guest and in your vicinity;

57. فَأَضِفْنِي وَأَجِرْنِي\
   *fa-adifni wa ajirni*\
   so, receive me as your guest and as your neighbor.

58. فَإنَّكَ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ ٱلضِّيَافَةَ\
   *fa innaka karimun tuhibbu alddiyafata*\
   Indeed, you are generous and hospitable

59. وَمَاْمُورٌ بِٱلإِجَارَةِ\
   *wa ma'murun bil-ijarati*\
   and you are commanded \[by Allah\] to host your neighbors.

60. فَأَضِفْنِي وَأَحْسِنْ ضِيَافَتِي\
   *fa-adifni wa ahsin diyafati*\
   So, receive me as your guest and treat me hospitably;

61. وَأَجِرْنَا وَأَحْسِنْ إِجَارَتَنَا\
   *wa ajirna wa ahsin ijaratana*\
   and accept us as your neighbors and treat us in due hospitability;

62. بِمَنْزِلَةِ ٱللَّهِ عِنْدَكَ وَعِنْدَ آلِ بَيْتِكَ\
   *bimanzilati allahi \`indaka wa \`inda ali baytika*\
   \[I ask you\] in the name of Allah’s standing with you and with your Household

63. وَبِمَنْزِلَتِهِمْ عِنْدَهُ\
   *wa bimanzilatihim \`indahu*\
   and in the name of their standing with Him

64. وَبِمَا ٱسْتَوْدَعَكُمْ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ\
   *wa bima istawda\`akum min \`ilmihi*\
   and in the name of the knowledge that He has entrusted with you all.

65. فَإنَّهُ أَكْرَمُ ٱلأَكْرَمِينَ\
   *fa'innahu akramu al-akramina*\
   Truly, He is the most generous of all those who show generosity.
