## Origin

Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (a), narrated by Muhammad al-Sajjad; carried in Shaykh al-Tusi's Misbah al-Mutahajjid among the daily supplications of Rajab, and reproduced in Mafatih al-Jinan (Shaykh Abbas al-Qummi).

Narrated from Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (a) to Muhammad al-Sajjad: to be recited every day of Rajab, morning and evening, and after each of the five daily prayers.

1. يَا مَنْ أَرْجُوهُ لِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ\
   *Ya man arjuhu likulli khayr*\
   O He from whom I hope for all good

2. وَآمَنُ سَخَطَهُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ شَرٍّ\
   *Wa amanu sakhatahu 'inda kulli sharr*\
   And in whom I seek refuge from His displeasure at every evil

3. يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي الْكَثِيرَ بِالْقَلِيلِ\
   *Ya man yu'ti-l-kathira bi-l-qalil*\
   O He who gives abundantly for that which is trivial

4. يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي مَنْ سَأَلَهُ\
   *Ya man yu'ti man sa'alahu*\
   O He who gives to those who ask Him

5. يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي مَنْ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ تَحَنُّناً مِنْهُ وَرَحْمَةً\
   *Ya man yu'ti man lam yas'alhu wa man lam ya'rifhu tahannunan minhu wa rahmah*\
   O He who gives to those who do not ask Him and do not know Him, out of His kindness and mercy

6. أَعْطِنِي بِمَسْأَلَتِي إِيَّاكَ جَمِيعَ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَجَمِيعَ خَيْرِ الآخِرَةِ\
   *A'tini bi-mas'alati iyyaka jami'a khayri-d-dunya wa jami'a khayri-l-akhirah*\
   Give me, by virtue of my asking You, all the good of this world and all the good of the Hereafter

7. وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّي بِمَسْأَلَتِي إِيَّاكَ جَمِيعَ شَرِّ الدُّنْيَا وَشَرِّ الآخِرَةِ\
   *Wasrif 'anni bi-mas'alati iyyaka jami'a sharri-d-dunya wa sharri-l-akhirah*\
   And ward off from me, by virtue of my asking You, all the evil of this world and the evil of the Hereafter

8. فَإِنَّهُ غَيْرُ مَنْقُوصٍ مَا أَعْطَيْتَ\
   *Fa-innahu ghayru manqusin ma a'tayt*\
   For indeed, what You give is not diminished

9. وَزِدْنِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ يَا كَرِيمُ\
   *Wa zidni min fadlika ya Karim*\
   And increase me from Your bounty, O Generous One

10. يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ\
   *Ya Dha-l-Jalali wa-l-Ikram*\
   O Lord of Majesty and Honor

11. يَا ذَا النَّعْمَاءِ وَالْجُودِ\
   *Ya Dha-n-Na'ma'i wa-l-Jud*\
   O Lord of Bounties and Generosity

12. يَا ذَا الْمَنِّ وَالطَّوْلِ\
   *Ya Dha-l-Manni wa-t-Tawl*\
   O Lord of Favor and Grace

13. حَرِّمْ شَيْبَتِي عَلَى النَّارِ\
   *Harrim shaybati 'ala-n-nar*\
   Forbid my gray hair from the Fire
