## Text

Each line gives the Arabic, then the transliteration in italics, then the English.

1. اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اَمْسَيْتُ لَكَ عَبْدًا دَاخِرًا\
   *Allahumma inni amsaytu laka ‘abdan dakhira*\
   O Allah, I have entered the evening as Your lowly servant.

2. لَا اَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِيْ نَفْعًا وَلَا ضَرًّا\
   *La amliku linafsi naf’an wa la darra*\
   I possess for myself neither benefit nor harm.

3. وَلَا اَصْرِفُ عَنْهَا سُوٓءًا\
   *Wa la asrifu ‘anha su’a*\
   Nor can I avert any evil from myself.

4. اَشْهَدُ بِذٰلِكَ عَلٰى نَفْسِيْ\
   *Ash-hadu bi dhalika ‘ala nafsi*\
   I bear witness to this against myself.

5. وَاَعْتَرِفُ لَكَ بِضَعْفِ قُوَّتِيْ وَقِلَّةِ حِيْلَتِيْ\
   *Wa a’tarifu laka bi-da’fi quwwati wa qillati hilati*\
   I confess to You my weak strength and lack of resources.

6. فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ\
   *Fa salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ali Muhammad*\
   So bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

7. وَاَنْجِزْ لِيْ مَا وَعَدْتَنِيْ\
   *Wa anjiz li ma wa’adtani*\
   And fulfill for me what You have promised me.

8. وَجَمِيْعَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ مِنَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ فِيْ هٰذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ\
   *Wa jami’al mu’minina wal mu’minat minal maghfirata fi hadhihil laylah*\
   And for all the believers, the forgiveness promised on this night.

9. وَاَتْمِمْ عَلَيَّ مَا اٰتَيْتَنِيْ\
   *Wa atmim ‘alayya ma ataytani*\
   And complete for me what You have granted me.

10. فَاِنِّيْ عَبْدُكَ الْمِسْكِيْنُ الْمُسْتَكِيْنُ الضَّعِيْفُ الْفَقِيْرُ الْمَهِيْنُ\
   *Fa inni ‘abdukal miskinul mustakin ad-da’iful faqirul mahin*\
   For I am Your servant: destitute, humble, weak, poor, and lowly.

11. اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِيْ نَاسِيًا لِذِكْرِكَ فِيْـمَا اَوْلَيْتَنِيْ\
   *Allahumma la taj’alni nasiyan li-dhikrika fima awlaytani*\
   O Allah, do not let me forget Your remembrance in what You gave me.

12. وَلَا لِاِحْسَانِكَ فِيْـمَا اَعْطَيْتَنِيْ\
   *Wa la li-ihsanika fima a’taytani*\
   Nor Your kindness in what You bestowed upon me.

13. وَلَا اٰيِسًا مِنْ اِجَابَتِكَ وَاِنْ اَبْطَاَتَ عَنِّيْ\
   *Wa la ayisan min ijabatika wa in abta’at ‘anni*\
   Nor let me despair of Your response, even if it is delayed.

14. فِي سَرَّآءَ اَوْ ضَرَّآءَ اَوْ شِدَّةَ اَوْ رَخَآءَ\
   *Fi sarra’a aw darra’a aw shiddata aw rakha’a*\
   In ease or hardship, in adversity or prosperity.

15. اَوْ عَافِيَةٍ اَوْ بَلَآءٍ اَوْ بُؤْسٍ اَوْ نَعْمَآءَ\
   *Aw ‘afiyatin aw bala’in aw bu’sin aw na’ma’a*\
   In well-being or affliction, in misery or blessing.

16. اِنَّكَ سَمِيْعُ الدُّعَآءِ\
   *Innaka sami’ud du’a*\
   Indeed, You are the Hearer of prayer.

17. يَا ذَا ٱلَّذِي كَانَ قَبْلَ كُِّ شَيْءٍ\
   *ya dha alladhi kana qabla kulli shay'in*\
   O He Who has existed before all things,

18. ثُمَّ خَلَقَ كلَّ شَيْءٍ\
   *thumma khalaqa kulla shay'in*\
   then created all things,

19. ثُمَّ يَبْقَىٰ وَيَفْنَىٰ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ\
   *thumma yabqa wa yafna kullu shay'in*\
   and then stays while all things vanish!

20. يَا ذَا ٱلَّذِي لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ\
   *ya dha alladhi laysa kamithlihi shay'un*\
   O He Whose like is not found at all!

21. َيَا ذَا ٱلَّذِي لَيْسَ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ ٱلْعُلَى\
   *wa ya dha alladhi laysa fi alssamawati al\`ula*\
   O He neither in the highest heavens

22. وَلاَ فِي ٱلأَرَضِينَ لسُّفْلَىٰ\
   *wa la fi al-aradina alssufla*\
   nor in the lowest layers of the earth,

23. وَلاَ فَوْقَهُنَّ وَلاَ تَحْتَهُنَّ\
   *wa la fawqahunna wa la tahtahunna*\
   nor above them, nor beneath them,

24. وَلاَ بَيْنَهُنَّ إِلٰهٌ يُعْبَدُ غَيْرُهُ\
   *wa la baynahunna ilahun yu\`badu ghayruhu*\
   nor there is between them any god that is worshipped save Him.

25. لَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لاَ يَقْوَىٰ عَلَىٰ إِحْصَائِهِ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ\
   *laka alhamdu hamdan la yaqwa \`ala ihsa'ihi illa anta*\
   To You be the praise that none can count save You.

26. فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ\
   *fasalli \`ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin*\
   So, please bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

27. صَلاةً لاَ يَقْوَىٰ عَلَىٰ إِحْصَائِهَا إِلاَّ أَنْتَ\
   *salatan la yaqwa \`ala ihsa'iha illa anta*\
   with blessings that none can count save You.

28. اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَتُقَدِّرُ\
   *allahumma inni as'aluka an taj\`ala fima taqdi wa tuqaddiru*\
   O Allah :I beseech You that You,

29. مِنَ الأَمْرِ الْمَحْتُومِ فِي الأَمْرِ الْحَكِيمِ\
   *min al-amri almahtumi fi al-amri alhakimi*\
   while taking decisions and rendering possible things and events decisively

30. مِنَ الْقَضَاءِ الَّذِي لا يُرَدُّ وَلا يُبَدَّلُ\
   *min alqada'i alladhi la yuraddu wa la yubaddalu*\
   (decisions which can not be changed or bypassed),

31. أَنْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ\
   *an taktubani min hujjaji baytika alharami*\
   write my name in the list of those pilgrims of Your Holy House

32. الْمَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمُ،\
   *almabruri hajjuhum*\
   whose pilgrimage receives Your approval,

33. الْمَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمُ،\
   *almashkuri sa\`yuhum*\
   whose efforts are appreciated,

34. الْمَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمُ،\
   *almaghfuri dhunubuhum*\
   whose sins are forgiven,

35. الْمُكَفَّرِ عَنْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ،\
   *almukaffari \`an sayyi'atihim*\
   whose wrongdoings are overlooked;

36. وَأَنْ تَجْعَلَ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَتُقَدِّرُ\
   *wa an taj\`ala fima taqdi wa tuqaddiru*\
   that You, while making decisions and rendering possible things and events;

37. أَنْ تُطِيلَ عُمْرِي فِي خَيْرٍ وَعَافِيَةٍ،\
   *an tutila \`umri fi khayrin wa \`afiyatin*\
   make possible for me long life, goodness, welfare,

38. وَتُوَسِّعَ في رِزْقِي،\
   *wa tuwassi\`a fi rizqi*\
   and enough means of livelihood,

39. وَتَجْعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ تَنْتَصِرُ بِهِ لِدِينِكَ\
   *wa taj\`alani mimman tantasiru bihi lidinika*\
   and let me be like him whom You helps with Your Religion;

40. وَلا تَسْتَبْدِلْ بِي غَيْرِي.\
   *wa la tastabdil bi ghayri*\
   not substituting any other in my place.

41. اللّهُمّ كُنْ لِوَلِيّكَ الحُجّةِ ابْنِ الحَسَنِ\
   *Allahumma Kum le-waliyyekal Hujjatibnil Hassan*\
   O Allah, be, for Your representative, the Hujjat (proof), son of Al­Hasan,

42. صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آبَائِهِ\
   *Salwaatoka A'layhe wa a'laa Aaabaa-Ehi*\
   Your blessings be on him and his forefathers,

43. فِي هذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَفي كُلّ سَاعَةٍ\
   *fee haazehis saa-a'te wa fee kulle saa-a'tin*\
   in this hour and in every hour,

44. وَلِيّاً وَحَافِظاً\
   *waliyyawn wa haafezawn*\
   a guardian, a protector,

45. وَقَائِداً وَنَاصِراً\
   *wa qaa-edawn wa naaserawn*\
   a leader, a helper,

46. وَدَلِيلاً وَعَيْناً\
   *wa daleelawn wa a'ynan*\
   a proof, and an eye.

47. حَتَّى تُسْكِنَهُ أَرْضَكَ طَوْعاً\
   *hattaa tuskenahu arzaka taw-a'n*\
   until You make him live on the earth, in obedience (to You),

48. وَتُمَتّعَهُ فِيهَا طَوِيلاً.\
   *wa tomatte-a'hu feehaa taweelaa.*\
   & Cause him to live in it for a long time
